A message from Mark at Go Home Productions ...
This message is from the Go Home Productions mailing list
Once Upon A Time........
Hello, hope you are well and avoiding any sneezes...
http://www.gohomeproductions.co.uk
Big Update.
I've finally finished the debut Mark Vidler / GHP album.
It's called "The Future, The Past & The Present Tension".
14 tracks of original music recorded between December 2008 - March 2009.
I wrote, played, recorded and produced the whole damn thing.
Here's the tracklisting:
01 Flashback
02 Daddy Was a S.P.A.C.E.R.O.C.K.E.R
03 Slow Down Sister
04 Storm Clouds Over Hoboken
05 My Dog, My Friend, My Wee Hairy Companion
06 Beached Buoy
07 Il Carnevale WD24
08 Everybody's Looking Rosy In My Garden
09 Fireball Splinters
10 Sticky Fingered Porcupine
11 Flashback (revisitation)
12 Sky High
13 Comes To An End
14 Sweet And Honey Fiction
Despite the popular trend of actually "selling" music...I'm not bothering.
It will be a FREE download and is released on the 22nd July 2009 via
Fluicidal Recordings and through the Go Home Productions website.
I'm also releasing a companion 5 track EP called "Tension", in conjuction
with the album.
Here's the tracklisting:
01 Spaced Rust
02 Horticultured
03 Sighs
04 Chinese Whispers
05 Vapour / Ice

full CD booklet artwork.
There will be a video for the track "Everybody's Looking Rosy In My Garden" uploaded
to YouTube next week, before the albums release.
to YouTube next week, before the albums release.
I guess the track is best desribed as Beefheart meets XTC in a german disco from the future...
The video is very Psychedelic and at one with...er, nature in a very horticultural way.
So what does it all sound like then?
So what does it all sound like then?
Well, the obvious Vidler influences are all in there I suppose....
XTC, Dukes Of Stratosphear, Beatles, Small Faces, Syd Floyd, Beefheart, Ivor Cutler, Brian Wilson,
My Bloody Valentine, Julian Cope, Tom Waits etc
My Bloody Valentine, Julian Cope, Tom Waits etc
You''ll be the best judge.
The "Tension" EP is very much a stab at something along the lines of XTC's "Go+" and Andy Partridges
"Take Away / The Lure Of Salvage".
"Take Away / The Lure Of Salvage".
It's sometimes dark, experimental, dubby and rather loose.
The cover is a complete rip-off of Cope's "Droolian" but that's just me paying the Drude some big respect.
Anyway, if you are intruiged thus far - you can hear the track "Flashback" in full via the GHP MySpace
website: http://www.myspace.com/markvidlerGHP

I must admit to getting lots of requests (still) for "Rock In Black", so as a run-in to getting the album out
I've uploaded ALL the previous GHP EP's in high bitrate MP3's with artwork etc.

So that's the following:
Rock In Black EP
MPFree EP
Six Pack EP
Grab them quick cause they may get pulled.......
I've also unearthed an Echo & The Bunnymen remix that I did a while back.
It's a thumping Psychedelic Electro mix of "Thorn Of Crowns" which Mac and Will really liked.
You can grab all this and more from http://www.gohomeproductions.co.uk
I think that's all for now...
Till the 22nd July.
Cheers
Mark.

"One whose merit surpasses his iniquity is a ‘tzadik’.”

"Transtextuality" has five relational subcategories: inter-, hyper-, para-, meta-, and archi-texts.
- Intertextuality: direct presence of one text in another through allusion, quotation, plagiarism.
- Hypertextuality: the relation between a text and a preceding ‘hypotext’, a text or genre on which it is based and refers to but which it transforms, modifies, elaborates or extends (including parody, spoof, sequel, translation).
- Paratextuality: the relation between a text and that which surrounds the main body of the text, such as titles, headings, illustrations, covers, etc.
- Metatextuality: explicit or implicit critical commentary of one text on another text.
- Architextuality: formal designation of a text as part of a genre or genres.
var(X + Y) = E( X + Y - E(X + Y) )2 = var(X) + var(Y) + 2E((X - µX)(Y - µY)).
The last term is called the covariance and, if the two variables are completely statistically independent and the sum is merely a comingling (in our case, of genres), then the (linear) association will be nil and cov(X,Y) will be zero. In such a case var(X + Y) = var(X) + var(Y). Codings of pieces that are members of genre X (in MusicXML or other MIR format) have a distinctive variance, as do codings of exemplars of genre Y.
